“Traci was a mentor to me as an early childhood music teacher half a lifetime ago in her highly successful creative arts studio. She brings brightness of spirit and joy in being human to all aspects of teaching. I have gained much from receiving Embodied Learnings newsletters to my inbox this past year. Although movement in the classroom is challenging during the pandemic, I have incorporated at least one of these valuable lessons to the enrichment of my teaching experience and that of the students. Traci's commitment to inclusion of all involves increasing self-awareness, a very balanced approach.”

“Working with Traci has been an extremely enriching experience, both personally and professionally. She was extremely compassionate, encouraging, gentle, and supportive in helping me realize what is necessary for me to be successful, what improvements I needed and the steps to achieve my goals. But the most incredible part about Traci was that she would genuinely listen to me. I felt that my thoughts, ideas, and concerns were actually being heard, which really helped build a trusting relationship between us. This allowed me to be open and tell her anything without hesitation or doubts of being judged or made fun of. She would always bring such interesting ideas and creative solutions to my concerns, which were completely simple and not complicated at all. I would leave every meeting feeling confident and as if all my concerns and confusions were lifted off my shoulders. And if all that wasn’t enough, her upbeat personality, positive energy, and warming smile always made me feel at ease. Working with Traci has been such a pleasure and the feeling of being in such great hands is incomparable.”

"The vision behind Embodied Learnings comes from a place of compassion and concern for both students and educators. As a not-for-profit, they strive to create quality resources that can easily be implemented in any elementary classroom, with little need for adaptation, while simultaneously being stress free for both teachers and students. These resources are geared toward a whole-body approach to education, helping to shape both the body and mind through movement-based activities. Traci and Rachel’s vision of implementing dance and movement into a variety of cross-curricular settings, as well as aiming to include everyBODY in the classroom, brings a refreshing uniqueness to their organization. I know first-hand the amount of research, care, and love that goes into the creation of these resources. Anything created by Embodied Learnings is a worthwhile investment for any teacher, of any subject, at any stage in their career.
I have had the pleasure of studying with Dr. Traci Scheepstra, one of the founding members for Embodied Learnings, during my time at Western University. She personifies warmth, joy, and compassion for those around her. As a previous mentee and student of hers I know that she prioritizes the spiritual and emotional needs of her students, before considering curriculum. Traci is thorough, relevant, and succinct in her approach to dance and movement pedagogy. Dr. Traci Scheepstra is a truly kind soul with a passion for education and the well-being of those around her. If you are looking for a supportive and understanding mentor, especially in a challenging and uncertain time for education, I highly recommend reaching out to Traci."

“I worked with Traci for just over a year, helping her create Embodied Learnings first website. Right out of the gate, I could see the level of commitment that Traci had toward equipping teachers with the resources and tools they needed to successfully incorporate movement and other strategies in their classrooms. I also learned that Traci’s vision for EL had been years in the making and was based on solid research. During my time at EL, I went from working on a website with Traci to viewing her as a mentor in the field of education. Her experience and wisdom comes through in the resources she creates and the sound advice and guidance she offers. In addition, seeing how driven she was to deliver the highest quality content to educators, not only motivated me to rethink my approach to instruction but it also inspired me to strive for continual growth as a teacher. As such, I cannot recommend enough the services that Traci and EL provide to those who are looking to level up their teaching strategies and career in education.”
