Dancing Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements that students can create to speak to their individual strengths such as “I am creative” or “I am caring.” When students are able to identify their strengths, and acknowledge the strengths of others, they are in the process of developing their social and emotional skills. A unique way to work with affirmations is through movement games and dance exercises. This strategy not only allows students to identify and state an affirmation, but also see and feel it in action. In this video you will learn of a few ways that affirmations can be explored through the body such as charades, mirroring, and tableau.
